Terms and Conditions
These Terms govern all business with Taurex Freight Ltd. Consumers (private individuals) are covered by separate consumer terms with stronger statutory rights.
Who this applies to
Taurex Freight Ltd (England and Wales, company no. 16939200, registered at 15 Cooper Street, Leicester, LE4 5BL) supplies freight forwarding, customs clearance, and product sourcing on customer demand. All work is performed subject to (a) these Terms and (b) UK consumer law for consumers.
Standard Trading Terms
Taurex Freight Ltd operates under its own standard freight forwarding terms and conditions. Taurex is not a member of BIFA and does not operate under BIFA Standard Trading Conditions. Key liability principles: Taurex acts as agent on your behalf and is not liable as a carrier. Liability for loss or damage is limited; claims must be notified in writing within 14 days of delivery and the time-bar for claims is 9 months from date of delivery. Governing law: English law. Jurisdiction: English courts. Full terms available on request to [email protected].
Consumer customers (B2C)
Private individuals shipping personal effects or one-off imports are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This gives you a 14-day cooling-off period after booking, the right to performance with reasonable care and skill, and refunds within 14 days of agreement by the same payment method. Our standard liability limits may be unenforceable as unfair terms against consumers — we apply the higher of our standard limit or proven value where it would be fair.
Accounts and KYC
Business accounts require verification of Companies House registration (or overseas equivalent), EORI, beneficial-owner disclosure, and director ID. We screen every counterparty, beneficial owner, vessel, and goods description against the UK Sanctions List (replaced the OFSI Consolidated List 28 Jan 2026), UN, EU, and OFAC. We may refuse or suspend service without liability where sanctions, AML, or bribery risk is identified.
Quotes, bookings and prices
Quotes are valid for 7 days unless stated, and are indicative until written confirmation. We may amend a quote if cargo, route, timing, or applicable surcharges change, or if GBP/USD moves more than 3% between quote and execution. Standard payment terms: Net 30 days from invoice date. Credit terms (Net 60 / Net 90) on application. Late payment interest at 8% above Bank of England base rate plus recovery costs.
Liability and insurance
Goods are NOT insured by Taurex unless we have written confirmation of a cargo insurance policy you have asked us to arrange. Our liability is limited and may not cover the full value of your goods — we strongly recommend ICC-A all-risks cover through our FCA-regulated broker partner (typically 0.3–0.7% of declared value). Where international conventions apply (CMR road, Hague-Visby sea, Montreal air — currently 26 SDR/kg from Dec 2024) those limits apply in parallel.
Cancellation
Before pickup: no charge. After pickup, before vessel/flight load: actual costs incurred plus 15% admin fee. After load: full freight payable. Consumers have an additional 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Force majeure cancellation refunds pre-paid amounts less unavoidable third-party costs.
AI voice assistant
Some calls may be handled by an AI voice assistant identified as such at the start. AI outputs (including indicative pricing) are not binding — written quotes from a human prevail. A human is available on request at any point during a call.
Disputes and jurisdiction
English law applies. English courts have exclusive jurisdiction for business customers. Consumers may use the courts of their part of the UK. We commit to mediation through CEDR before any court action — full process at /policies/customer/19-dispute-resolution-policy.md.
